Work Schedule Summary

Position is expected to start 6/6/18 and end 8/15/18.

Maximum of 400 hours (10 weeks), 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. No work will be performed on the following holiday – July 4.

Job Duty Function Internship
Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Increase and implement knowledge of Animal Science and Technology.

• Engage with clientele of all ages, backgrounds, and interests.

• Interact with the public promoting University of Idaho Extension programs, especially 4-H and hands-on learning.

• Lead or assist with local, district, or statewide 4-H programs and projects during the summer.

• Assist with 4-H STEM programs and projects.

• Lead or assist with camps and classes for youth.

• Strengthen computer and writing skills.

• Conduct at least two (2) livestock programs with support from 4-H Program Coordinator.

• Lead or assist in planning and organizing events for the Valley County Fair.

• Participate in Market Sale and volunteer support meetings.

• Prepare an internship experience final report and submit to the UI Extension Director at the end of the internship.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have completed a minimum of one semester (12 credits) at an Idaho public university OR an Idaho public university student and currently enrolled for the next semester. Priority will be given to UI student applicants.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Must provide own transportation and have the ability to travel to multiple work sites.

• Become a certified 4-H Volunteer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed coursework in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Agriculture, and/or Education.

• Outgoing and comfortable working with the public (youth and adults) and volunteers.

• Self-motivated and works independently.

• Enjoys working with youth of all ages.

• Experience answering phones, responding to email, communicating through UI webpages and social media.

• Enjoys working in a variety of settings and environments with diverse audiences.

• Team player and works well with others.
