Position Summary

The Lionel Hampton School of Music’s Instructor-Vocal Coach & Collaborative Pianist position is a non-tenure-track, nine-month appointment starting Fall 2018. This position teaches courses needed for the voice performance major at both undergraduate and graduate levels and provides coaching and supplementary language diction study, style and performance instruction, and performance practice to all voice majors (graduate & undergraduate). This position is solely responsible for piano accompaniment for all graduate students in voice, first year students in voice, and accompanies at all upper division standing juries. Responsibilities include:

Vocal Coaching
MusA 115-07 Studio Ins: team teach first year voice seminar (FVS)
MusH 451/551-01 Opera Repertoire (even years)
MusH 452-01 Solo Vocal Repertoire (Fall, alt/even years)
MusX 283-01 English and Italian Diction for Singers

Vocal Coaching
MusA 115/124/134-07 Studio Ins: FVS (Voice)
MusX 284-01 Diction: German and French Diction for Singers

Teaching assignments are subject to change and will be based on LHSOM needs and enrollments.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Music from an accredited institution.
Record of successful vocal coaching.
Record of successful accompanying.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Music.
Emphasis in vocal performance or a related discipline.
Multiple areas of teaching expertise.
Record of success as an instructor at the college level.
Strong communication/interpersonal skills with flexible attitude and ability to work successfully as a team player.
